AUDITION INFORMATION

Theatre Calgary is looking for 3 children to play the roles of SCOUT, JEM, and DILL in our upcoming production of TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD.

SCOUT: a 9* year old girl; a Tomboy

JEM: Scout’s 13* year old brother; likes sports

DILL: a 10* year old boy; friend of Scout and Jem

*These are the ages of the characters. The person playing them only has to look this age.

The play takes place in Maycomb, Alabama in 1935.  The action of the play takes place around the trial of an innocent black man being defended by Scout and Jem’s father.

PLEASE NOTE: We are using the original script for the production that contains derogatory terms for the accused man (as per the time period and the location settings of the play).

Show Information
First day of rehearsal: Monday, September 19, 2011
Opening: Friday, October 14, 2011
Closing: Sunday, November 6, 2011
*During rehearsal, the company has Sundays off and during performances, the company has Mondays off.  We work 6 days a week and do 8 shows a week.  Rehearsal schedules try to work around school hours but once onstage, some school will have to be missed.

Audition Information
Audition date: Wednesday, July 6 (time TBA)
What to prepare: Young actors are to learn the lines of the role that he/she is auditioning for.  Please try to have an Alabama accent (look it up on YouTube).  Also, be prepared to play some games and move around.

- A very recent photo (used so we can identify child after auditions)

- Which role your child is auditioning for

- A short resumé that includes:

• contact information for parent
• age of child
• height
• any related performance experience (school play, dance, drama camp, etc.)

Submissions must be in by Sunday, July 3, 2011.
Successful applicants will be contacted by the end of the day on Monday, July 4 with further details.

GENERAL AUDITIONS 2011/12


The date for our 2011-12 General Auditions has passed (Feb. 9 & 10). No further auditions are planned at this point.


Artists who are members of the Canadian Actors Equity Association are given audition priority for any audition. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to any audition. Non-Equity artists will be seen when and if spaces are available.

Theatre Calgary is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres, and operates within the jurisdiction of the Canadian Theatre Agreement. Equity members cast in any production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.

 


SCRIPT POLICY

Theatre Calgary does not invite unsolicited scripts. We do develop and foster relationships with playwrights locally and nationally under the Artistic Director's discretion. Theatre Calgary commissions new work from playwrights that reflect the mandate of our theatre.

 



A CHRISTMAS CAROL CHILDREN AUDITIONS


Whie we currently do not have a date set for children's auditions for our new production of A Christmas Carol, we are also encouraging submissions at this time.
