THEATRE CALGARY AUDITIONS


Theatre Calgary is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres, and operates within the jurisdiction of the Canadian Theatre Agreement. Artists cast in any production, regardless of CAEA standing, will be engaged under a CTA contract.


Artists who are members of the Canadian Actors Equity Association will be given audition priority. Non-Equity artists will be seen when and if spaces are available.

    Theatre Calgary is holding auditions for the character of Prince Ren in our upcoming production of
    The Tale of the Gifted Prince.

    NOTE: This is a self-tape audition.

    CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:
    PRINCE REN (LEAD) - (M) Asian, 20s, baritenor, excellent singer/actor, strong mover. Young Lord Prince: enthusiastic, tenacious, honorable, adventurous, excellent comedy.

    Casting is open to performers of the entire Asian Diaspora, including performers of multicultural backgrounds with Asian ancestry. Like the novel, the script and all of the dialogue is primarily in English. Some of the character names and locations are derived from Chinese names and words.  English should appear to be the language spoken in this mythological Chinese Kingdom. Actors should speak in their natural dialect. It is not necessary to portray these characters with an Asian accent.
