    As we welcome you back into our theatre, it is important to allow all of our patrons to return in a flexible way that meets their needs, comfort level, and schedule.  This means implementing Safety and Comfort Protocols such as physically distanced seating, masking, improved air quality, enhanced cleaning, etc.  

    With this these adjustments, Theatre Calgary made the decision to defer our regular fixed seat subscription package or renewals for the 2021-2022 season.  Instead, we are introducing three new flexible show packages that will allow patrons build a subscription package that fits their lifestyle, schedule, and needs.  

    For the 2022-2023 season (or as soon as it is safe to do so), we anticipate returning to our traditional fixed seat subscription renewal process. 

  • Am I guaranteed that I will be seated in my regular subscriber seats for the 2021-2022 season?

    Am I guaranteed that I will be seated in my regular subscriber seats for the 2021-2022 season?

    Unfortunately, no.  We will be opening the Max Bell Theatre with safety precautions such as physically distanced seating, masking, etc. Please review our Safety and Comfort Protocols.

    This may mean that your regular subscriber seats won't be available.  Additionally, as we are not offering our traditional fixed seat subscription renewals, we can not guarantee that you will be able to sit in your regular subscriber seats for the 2021-2022 season.  

    However, when purchasing your subscription, please let us know you have any seating requirements when booking your subscription, or follow up with a call to our Box Office at 403.294.7447, Monday to Friday. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT.  Our Box Office team will endeavour to get you into your regular subscriber seats (or as close to them as possible).  

    And you never know, many of our patrons who have been in the same seat for years really enjoy other sections of the Max Bell Theatre.

    No, we will hold your seats for the 2022-2023 season.  We will contact you in the Spring of 2022 to see if you are interested in getting back to your seats. Your seats will be saved and will wait for you to return.

    No, we will hold your seats for you for the 2022-2023 season.  We will contact you in the Spring of 2022 to see if you are interested in getting back to your regular subscriber seats. Your seats will be saved and wait for you to return.  

    However, if you chose not to return for the 2022-2023 season, the seats will become available for subscription and/or single ticket purchase by anyone who may be interested in them.

    Please review our Safety and Comfort Protocols page for more information.  It is important to note that protocols are routinely reviewed and assessed are subject to change as may be required.

  • My regular subscription seats are not available due to physical distancing. Can I purchase or sit in them anyway?

    No.  We will be limiting capacity with as much alternate seat and row availability as possible to create space between you and the other patrons.  Unfortunately, this may impact your ability to sit in your regular subscriber seats. All patrons are required to sit in their reserved seat for the duration of the performance and not sit in any empty seats or rows. 

    However, if our physical distancing protocols change and your seats open up, we will advise all 2021-2022 subscribers in advance via email.  This will allow you to exchange your seats (if so desired).

  • I'm a box subscriber with two seat subscriptions within a four seat box. What safety protocols will be in place?

    I'm a box subscriber with two seat subscriptions within a four seat box. What safety protocols will be in place?

    We will be offering all four seats in each of our boxes. However, a barrier will be in place to separate each pair of seats - just in case  you are uncomfortable sharing a box with someone you don't know.  

  • How do the new show packages work?

    The new Two, Three, and Four Show Packages are very flexible!  First, you will select the size of show package that you are interested in.  The size of show package corresponds to the number of Theatre Calgary shows you would like to attend. 

    Once you select the show package, you will select the number of subscription seats you would like to purchase.  Each subscription seat will be seated in each performance you select.

    Next, you'll select what performance dates you would like to attend for each show.  If you want to attend on the same performance day (just like a fixed seat subscription), you can!  If you would like to attend a different performance day throughout a shows run - maybe you want to attend on a Wednesday for one show, or Opening Night for another - you can do that!  

    Last, you'll select the price level that you are interested in purchasing.  This provides you some flexibility in price.  It also determines where you will sit within the physically distanced seating map as all subscribers are seated in the best available seat based on the performance and price level you purchase.

    I would like to purchase a new Show Package online. Can I select my seats?

    Unfortunately, you will be unable to select your specific show package seats online.  However, you will be able to select the specific performance as well as the price level you are interested in.  You will automatically be placed in the best available seats for the performance and price level you have selected.   

    If you have any seating requirements when booking your subscription, please let us know in the Seating Request before completing your order.  This also includes any box seat requests you may have.   We will do our very best to accommodate all requests.  But please be aware that some requests may not be possible due to physical distancing protocols.

  • Can I select more subscriber seats in one production than another?

    No, when you select the number of subscriptions that you would like to purchase, each of seat will placed into each of the performance dates that you choose.  If you wish to bring additional guests to a performance, you will need to purchase additional tickets.  But subscribers always receive a discount on additional regular tickets!

    For the 2021-2022 season, we are excited to offer mobile ticketing.  Mobile ticketing removes the need for physical tickets.  Your Mobile Tickets will be available through the Upcoming Performance page in your Theatre Calgary account  And don't worry,  we will send you a reminder a couple days before your performance.

    Rest assured, if you would still like to receive physical tickets, you can update your online order or let our Box Office team know.  The team will mail out your tickets or hold them for pick up at our Box Office.

  • Will will I be able to purchase A Christmas Carol as part of my subscrption?

    Yes!  For the 2021-2022 season, we are pleased to include A Christmas Carol as part of any of our Show Package offerings.  This will include discounts on any additional regular tickets you wish to purchase for A Christmas Carol (or any of our other exciting 2021-2022 productions)!

  • What if I am not feeling well?

    In the event you are unable to attend your performance due to illness, we can issue a ticket refund. Our Box Office team will refund the face value of your tickets to your original method of payment. Ticket refund requests can be made by calling our Box Office team at 403.294.7447, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT.

    PLEASE NOTE:  Ticket refunds are available on a performance basis and do not extend to subscription packages.

  • How do I subscribe?

    It’s as simple as a phone call to our Box Offce team at 403.294.7447 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MT). We’re pleased to accept VISA, Mastercard and American Express.

    The Theatre Calgary website is always open for sales, and accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

  • When will I receive my tickets?

    For the 2021-2022 season, we are excited to offer mobile ticketing.  Mobile ticketing removes the need for physical tickets.  Your tickets will appear in your Theatre Calgary account seven (7) days before each of your show dates.  And don't worry,  we will send you a reminder when the tickets are available on  your account.  For more information about mobile ticketing, please check out our Mobile Ticketing FAQ

    Rest assured, if you would still like to receive physical tickets, you can update your online order or let our Box Office team know.  The team will mail out your tickets or hold them for pick up at our Box Office.   You will receive them well in advance of your first show date.

    Absolutely! Two, Three, and Four Show Packages can be purchased at any point during our season.  For details, please phone our Box Office team at 403.294.7447 (Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT).

  • What if I can't attend one of my chosen performances?

    What if I can't attend one of my chosen performance?

    Your best option is to exchange a chosen performance for another time and date during the show’s run. Exchanges are free, and the earlier you make the exchange, the better your seating options will be. You can only exchange tickets within the same production.

    Please contact our Box Office team at 403.294.7447 (Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MT) with any questions – they’re happy to help. You can also request an exchange via your Theatre Calgary account.

    If you can’t attend a performance, tickets can be given to friends or family. Or, you can donate your tickets back to us, and we’ll give you a tax receipt for their value. You can also request a Ticket Donation through your Theatre Calgary account as well. 

    In the event you are unable to attend your performance due to illness, we can issue a ticket refund.
