The Theatre Calgary website is always open for sales, and accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express.

The Max Bell Theatre Box Office (located just inside the lobby doors) also sells a limited number of tickets, starting one (1) hour before the performance. Please note that sales are cash only and may be purchased only for that day’s matinee and evening performances.

  • How much do tickets cost?

    Ticket prices vary on seat location, availability and show time. Prices start as low as $35 and average between $72 and $100.


  • Are there discounts for children, students or seniors?

    School groups can get discounted tickets to attend weekday student matinee performances. Please contact Audience Services by email or at 403.294.7447 for more details.

    Patrons aged 65 and older can buy discounted tickets for Senior Saturday matinees. Seniors Saturdays are held on the third Saturday of each show’s production run (not including A Christmas Carol). Please contact Audience Services at 403.294.7447 to ask about availability.

    We strive to make prices accessible for everyone – children and students included – starting from just $35. 

  • Can I bring my baby to a performance?

    Theatre Calgary’s recommended age is 6 years and up. Babies and toddlers can be disruptive to fellow patrons, so we’re unable to admit babes-in-arms. Children need their own tickets, and we ask that they’re able to sit comfortably in their own seat for the show’s duration while being respectful to their neighbours. Please review age recommendations for each of our shows.

  • Do you have special rates for groups?

    Yes, discounted rates are available for groups. Please email Audience Services, call 403.294.7447 for more details, or fill out the group save-the-date form. 

  • Are there Rush Ticket performances?

    While we don’t have a Rush Ticket program, there are lots of affordable ways to attend. Like Pay-What-You-Can matinees (see below) and tickets starting as low as $35 for all preview performances, along with Tuesday and Wednesday performances throughout the run. We also have last-minute deals for select shows. Please note that Pay-What-You-Can and $35 tickets are limited and available while tickets last.

  • When are Pay-What-You-Can performances?

    We offer a limited number of Pay-What-You-Can tickets for each production’s first Saturday matinee (2:00 p.m.).

    Starting one (1) hour before the performance begins (1:00 p.m.), a limited number of seats will be available at the Max Bell Theatre Box Office. These cash-only tickets are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability. These tickets tend to sell out quickly, and seating is typically located on the Second Balcony level.


  • How will I get my tickets?

    There are several easy ways to get your tickets:

    By Mail

    Tickets purchased through Audience Services can be mailed to you for free. Please note that if your performance is within ten (10) days of purchase, ticket mail-out may not be available.

    Pick up in advance

    Tickets may be picked up at Audience Services or at our walk-up Box Office.

    • Audience Services: located on the +15 level of Arts Commons (Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. MT).
    • Box Office: located in Arts Commons lobby, 225 8th Avenue SE (Monday to Friday 10:00 am - 4:00 pm MT).

    Print At Home

    Tickets can be sent through email so you can print them at home. Please ask for this option at the time of purchase.

    Hold At Box Office

    On the day of your performance, you can pick up your tickets at the Max Bell Theatre or Arts Commons Box Offices. The Max Bell Theatre Box Office opens one (1) hour before the performance starts.

  • I haven't received my print-at-home tickets. What should I do?

    The email with your tickets may take up to a half an hour to arrive. If it hasn’t arrived after a half an hour, please check your junk folder. The automated ticket email may have been marked as spam by your email filters. If you still haven’t received the email, please contact Audience Services at 403.294.7447.

  • What if I've lost my tickets?

    No problem. To arrange a reprint of your tickets, call our Audience Services line at 403.294.7447 (Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. MT). If the Audience Services Office is already closed for the day or weekend, please bring ID with you when you come to the theatre and speak to our Box Office staff, who will be available starting one (1) hour before show time.

  • I've purchased tickets but can’t attend the show. Can I get a refund?

    Unfortunately, we’re unable to issue refunds. But since we are a non-profit charitable organization, you can donate tickets back to us and get a tax receipt for the cost. Please note that ticket donations must be made at least two (2) business days before the show. Sorry, we’re unable to accept donations of tickets to shows that have already taken place, or unused Flex vouchers.

  • Can I exchange my tickets for a different performance?

    Absolutely. If you’re unable to attend your scheduled performance, Single Tickets can be exchanged for $7 each. Subscribers can exchange their tickets free of charge. Tickets can only be exchanged for another performance of the same show.

    PLEASE NOTE: It’s important to contact us at least two (2) business days prior to the original performance. Exchanges are subject to ticket availability for the new date.

  • Can I purchase a gift certificate for Theatre Calgary performances?

    Live theatre makes a great gift. Our gift certificates come in any amount, never expire and can be used toward tickets for a single show or a subscription. Our helpful Audience Services team can craft the perfect gift package for your needs.

  • Are performances ever cancelled due to extreme weather or other events?

    Please consider the weather when planning your trip to the theatre. Shows are rarely cancelled. Unfortunately, we’re unable to exchange unused tickets if the show goes ahead as scheduled.

    In the unlikely event of a cancellation, we’ll contact you by email as soon as possible to make other arrangements. When you buy your tickets and/or subscription, please make sure we have your current email address on file.
