Musicians and Actors Club (MAC) is formed by three Calgary businessmen (Donald Boyes, Eddie Wong, Harry Pinchin). MAC would perform in an old movie house turned into a live theatre. MAC specialized in short plays and excerpts from musicals.

1940s
Dr. Betty Mitchell, a drama teacher at Western Canada High School, inspired her students so much they formed Workshop 14 (named after the high school's drama room #14). The group became one of the nation's finest amateur theatres.
