The submission deadline for the coming year has passed.
Please be aware that the selection process may take some time, as we are still unsure of what our 2020/21 season will look like in the face of COVID-19. We appreciate your patience in this uncertainty and will let you know either way only when we are able to.
See below for more information on the tcMentors program.
Theatre Calgary’s mentorship program, tcMentors, aims to give artists on the job training and to act as a link between independent theatre practices and the established theatre world. We are looking for aspiring theatre professionals who have some theatre experience already and who have completed their studies. Mentees may be emerging artists or more experienced artists who desire the knowledge of working in an ‘A’ house. tcMentors aims to contribute to Calgary’s theatrical ecosystem as a whole. Please note our tcMentors’ production-based mentorships have taken the place of our Assistant stream. So if you were interested in being an Assistant Director or Assistant Lighting Designer, etc. this would be how you would go about doing that. You must apply for this program.
Each mentee will be paired with an established professional in their chosen field, paid an honorarium, and included as a part of the TC experience. Mentorships will vary in duration based on the area of learning, for example: a Directing mentee may be involved for a full 5 weeks of rehearsal, but a Development mentee may have their time spread out, coming into the office once a week for two months.
Please note: this is not a job, but a learning opportunity. The amount of the involvement of the mentorship will be determined by the mentor. Preference will be given to first-time applicants. Mentees must be at least 18 years old by the start of their mentorship.
For more information on our tcMentors program, please email Susan McNair Reid, Company Manager.

tcMentors placements will exist throughout our organization with opportunities available in production as well as administration. Since mentorship was an integral ingredient in the development of my career, I am thrilled to offer this program. tcMentors aims to contribute to Calgary’s theatrical ecosystem as a whole.
