Our Curtain Will Rise Again

Our Curtain Will Rise Again

Dear Friends,

We wanted to connect with you, our subscribers, donors, artists, volunteers, and theatre-lovers with an update. Over the past 16 months, your loyalty, messages of support, and donations have allowed us to continue to offer opportunities to both established and emerging artists. These artists in turn were able to provide unique and entertaining new offerings for you. Our highly viewed tcTakeout series, our online productions of Romeo & Juliet and A Christmas Carol, and our new Page to Stage New Works Festival would not have been possible without you.

Now, it is almost impossible to ignore the sense of optimism that is in the air, and that makes us incredibly excited to have you back with us soon.

We want to share some of the much-anticipated news of what you can expect from us over the next two months.

First, it would not be summer in Calgary without a group of talented young emerging artists brushing up on their eloquent diction for Shakespeare by the Bow. While more details will come your way later in July, this August will see our annual tradition reach out, in a new way, to more communities and people of Calgary and surrounding areas. We are calling it Shakespeare on the Go, and we hope you will be able to join us when we are in your neighbourhood or close by.

And of course, there is the fall, and our 2021-22 season of plays. We are very excited to share with you later this August what we will be unveiling for our season of live theatre on the Max Bell stage. The finishing touches are being put in place, and we know that you will love the mix of familiar faces and great stories that are coming your way.

Many other plans are currently underway to make our 2021-22 season a reality. We recently accepted applications for our tcMentors program and our High School in Residence program. More information on both of these programs can be found on our website.

None of the above can happen without a commitment to both our audience and artists safety first and foremost. As we have since the beginning, we continue to plan all of our future projects around the health guidelines set out by all levels of government.

On behalf of all of us at Theatre Calgary, we cannot express our gratitude enough for your dedication to the arts in our city, and especially to Theatre Calgary.  Soon our stage lights will turn on, artists will tread our boards, and our curtain will rise again.
