Theatre Calgary Receives Ultimate Host City Designation

We have some exciting news to share!

Theatre Calgary has joined the ranks as Tourism Calgary’s newest Ultimate Host Designate.

Following a research study conducted by Edelman last year, a group of more than 100 stakeholders shared their insights on how to make Calgary a destination of choice for all visitors – based on this data Tourism Calgary launched a new campaign in early 2018: Ultimate Hosts Ultimate Host City with the goal of “amplifying positive stories about Calgary’s compelling experiences, in other words, our destination brand. It’s being nimble – and bold – enough to disrupt the market with creative ideas.”

Select organizations were invited to apply and the evaluation criteria was focused on recognizing those who best demonstrated alignment with our city’s competitive advantages, market-place positions and tourism goals.

“Theatre Calgary is honoured to be recognized as an Ultimate Host for Calgary. The arts are an essential part of a city’s fabric,” said Theatre Calgary's Executive Director, Jon Jackson. “As part of the cultural fabric that makes Calgary the ultimate host city, we will continue to continue building on the success of Calgary’s Destination Strategy.”

Ultimate Host Designates are acknowledged for having a positive impact on the local economy, city building, amplifying guest experiences, enhancing the quality of life for Calgarians, intensifying the city’s vibrancy and fostering deeper community spirit.

Other Ultimate Host Designates include: Arts Commons, Beakerhead, Calgary Stampede, Calgary Arts Development, Calgary Municipal Land Corporation and the Heritage Park Historical Village.
