Student Matinee Frequently Asked Questions

Proof of Vaccination or Negative COVID-19 Test

Under the City of Calgary Bylaw Number 65M2021, students under the age of 18 who participate in a school-based curriculum activity are exempt from providing proof of vaccination. However, any attendees over the age of 18 (teachers, parents, volunteer chaperones, students, etc) will be required to provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID-19 test result from a sample taken within 72 hours prior to attending  a Theatre Calgary student matinee.  . The COVID-19 test must be conducted by a third party other than AHS or Alberta Precision Laboratories. Self-administered tests will not be accepted.

As such, we will be checking for proof of vaccination or proof of negative COVID-19 test results for all attendees over the age of 18 years old who attend any of our upcoming student matinees, including A Christmas Carol.

Please review our Safety & Comfort protocols for additional information.

Bring your students to Theatre Calgary to take in our season’s productions and get an interactive journey through the world of live theatre. This program is offered to students from grades 1-12, but please read information about each show to ensure the production is rated appropriately for your students.

To order tickets or for more information, email or call our Box Office at 403.294.7447.

General Information

Start time

Shows start promptly at 11:30am. The doors to the lobby will be open at 10:45am and we will start seating students at this time.  We advise you to arrive at the theatre no later than 10:45am.  We will be checking vaccination status for anyone over the age of 18 prior to entry into the Max Bell Theatre.  Please keep this in mind when planning your arrival.

Buses and parking

If you require parking, please inquire through Calgary Parking Authority prior to your attendance.

Seating

We do not issue individual tickets for each student. Seat numbers are submitted to the Front of House department prior to your attendance and your seating is assigned the day of the performance. Front of house staff members will be present and will direct your group to their seats, to fill the house as effectively as possible.

Important Information

Food, beverages, gum, cell phones, cameras and any recording devices are not allowed. Please ensure that your students are aware of this.

For performances with intermissions, we request that students do not leave the lobby areas during the intermission. If students leave the theatre and are late returning, they may not be able to get back into the auditorium once the second act begins. House Manager warnings for intermission cannot be heard outside the lobby areas.
