How may I purchase tickets for a Theatre Calgary show?
There are many ways to book tickets through Audience Services:
- By phone: Call 403-294-7447 (Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm MT). We accept payment via Visa, Mastercard, or American Express.
Please be aware that we may experience very high call volumes at certain times of the year. Please leave a voicemail and we will get back to you as soon as possible (typically within two (2) business days).
In person: Visit us on the +15 level of Arts Commons (Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm MT). We accept payment via major credit card, debit card, cheque, or cash.

PLEASE NOTE: In order for subscribers to redeem their 20% discount off of single ticket purchases, they will need to visit or phone our Audience Services Office.
At the Max Bell Theatre Box Office: The Max Bell Theatre Box Office (located just inside the lobby doors) opens one (1) hour prior to a performance. Our Box Office only sells tickets for that evening/matinee performance.
How much do tickets cost?
Ticket prices vary depending on seating location, availability, and performance time. Prices start as low as $35, with the average ticket price between $70 and $90.
Are there discounts for children, students, or seniors?

School groups can arrange discounted tickets to attend weekday student matinee performances. Please contact Chris Stockton in Audience Services via email or at 403-294-7440, ext 1122 for more details.
Patrons aged 65 and older can purchase discounted tickets for Seniors’ Saturday Matinee performances. Seniors’ Saturdays are held on the third Saturday during the run of each the five (5) Mainstage productions. Please contact our Audience Services staff at 403-294-7447 to ask about availability.
Can I bring my baby with me to a performance?
No. Babes-in-arms are not permitted. The recommended age is 6 years old and above. Children must have their own ticket to attend the show and be able to sit comfortably in their own seat for the duration of the performance, while being respectful of other patrons.
Do you have special rates for groups?
Yes, we have special offers available to groups. Please email or call Chris Stockton at 403-294-7440, ext. 1122 for more details.
Are there Rush Ticket performances?
Our Rush Ticket program has been discontinued. However, we still have affordable options, including a Pay-What-You-Can matinee (see below), and tickets starting as low as $35 for all preview performances, along with Tuesday and Wednesday performances throughout the run (that you can book in advance). Please note that both the Pay-What-You-Can and $35 tickets are limited, and subject to availability, for each performance.
Are there Pay-What-You-Can performances?
We offer a limited number of Pay-What-You-Can tickets on the first Saturday matinee during the run of each the five (5) Mainstage productions.
Pay-What-You-Can tickets cannot be booked in advance. Starting one (1) hour before the performance begins (1:00pm), a limited number of seats will be available at the Max Bell Theatre Box Office. These tickets are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and are subject to availability. Payment for tickets is cash only.
PLEASE NOTE: These tickets tend to sell out quickly. Seating is typically located on the Second Balcony level.
How will I receive my tickets?
There are several methods in which you can receive your tickets:
Mail: Tickets purchased through the Audience Services will be mailed to you free of charge. Please be advised that if your performance is within ten (10) days of purchase, ticket mail-out may not be available.
Advanced Pick Up: Tickets may be picked up in advance at the Audience Services on the +15 level of Arts Commons Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm MT.
Print At Home: Sent via your email address, we offer a print-at-home option for tickets. This option must be requested at the time of purchase.
Hold At Box Office: On the day of your performance, you can pick up your tickets at the Max Bell Theatre Box Office. The Box Office opens one (1) hour before the performance starts.
I haven’t received my print-at-home tickets. What should I do?
The email may take up to a half an hour to arrive. If it has still not arrived after a half an hour, please check your junk folder as the automated ticket email may have been marked as spam by your email filters. If you still do not receive the email, please contact Audience Services at 403-294-7447.
What if I’ve lost my tickets?
To arrange a reprint of your tickets, call our Audience Services line at 403-294-7447, (Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:00pm MT). If the Audience Services Office is already closed for the day or weekend, bring ID with you when you come to the theatre and speak to our Box Office staff, who will be available starting one (1) hour before show time.
I’ve purchased tickets but cannot attend the show. Can I get a refund?
No, all tickets are non-refundable. However, since we are a non-profit charitable organization, you may donate tickets back to Theatre Calgary and request a tax receipt for the cost of the tickets.
Canada Revenue Agency regulations require that Theatre Calgary have the opportunity to resell your tickets, so ticket donations must be made at least two (2) business days prior to the scheduled performance. We cannot accept donations of tickets to performances that have already taken place, or unused Flex vouchers.
Can I exchange my tickets into a different performance?
In the event that you are unable to attend your scheduled performance, Single Ticket patrons may exchange their tickets for a $7 fee per ticket and Subscribers may exchange their tickets free of charge. Exchanges must be done into another performance of the same show.
Tickets can only be exchanged within the same production.
PLEASE NOTE: All patrons must notify us at least two (2) business days prior to the original performance, and exchanges are subject to availability in the new requested date.
Can I purchase a gift certificate for Theatre Calgary performances?
Live theatre makes a wonderful gift!
Theatre Calgary gift letters may be purchased in any denomination, never expire, and can be redeemed towards tickets for a single show or a subscription for the full season. Are performances ever cancelled due to extreme weather or other circumstances?
Please take weather into account when planning your journey to the theatre. Performances are rarely cancelled. If the performance goes ahead as scheduled, we cannot exchange unused tickets after the fact.
In the unlikely event of a cancellation, you will be contacted as soon as possible to make alternate arrangements. We will notify you of a cancellation by email. When you purchase your tickets and/or subscription, please ensure that we have your current email address on file.
